Amazon.com Review Equipped with a differential feed to permit the gathering of fabrics for creating ruffles, for example, and for sewing knits without them stretching, this two-needle machine sews six kinds of stitches with three or four threads and permits quick, easy stitching, trimming, and overcasting in a single operation. It provides convenience, speed (up to 1,300 stitches per minute), and the reliability of the Singer name. Available stitch functions include the three-thread overlock; the three-thread, wrapped-edge overlock; the four-thread mock-safety stitch; flatlock; blind hem; and rolled hem. Conversion from normal overedging to rolled hemming can be accomplished without changing the throat plate. Color-coded threading, adjustable stitch width (ranging from 3 to 6.7 mm), adjustable stitch length (from 2 to 4 mm), a stitch-length control dial, adjustable differential feed, presser-foot adjustment, and tension-adjustment dials for all four threads offer exceptional flexibility and control. Simply removing the cloth plate converts the machine for free-arm work. Singer's illustrated, step-by-step instruction booklet that accompanies the machine is invaluable. The machine comes with a 25-year warranty against defects on the sewing machine head; a five-year warranty on electrical and electronic components; and a one-year warranty against defects on parts and adjustments. --Fred Brack

No major problems.... November 10, 2006 April (Utah) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
My biggest problem was probably the needles that came with the machine, but I was working on a project sewing canvas and denim, so what do you expect?! I took the needle information to my local Bernina store. They didn't have the same needles but told me to use Bernina 130/705 H Universal (90/14) needles. They have been just fine! I haven't had any problems since I am no longer sewing canvas and denim.
I haven't messed with the differential feed yet, but I'm not a big sewer.
I recently figured out how to use the rolled hem stitch and love it!
Easy to use serger March 31, 2009 Susan B (Yorktown Heights, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the first serger I have ever used. I was afraid to thread it but the accompanying dvd and written directions made it easy. I've swapped out the thread and the needles multiple times with very little effort except threading the needles due to space limitations for your hands, but there are tools for that which I am considering. Some of the manual is incorrect but it's easy enough to figure out what they are trying to say. It's a nice compact size so I can have it on the same table as my sewing machine and switch between them easily.
Excellent to work with January 10, 2007 R. K. Bolen (New Albany, IN) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
I love my Serger. I am still getting use to it but from what I have seen so far it has been one of my best purchases yet.
Works very well for price April 29, 2008 R. Henderson (USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been sewing for 16 years and have been using the same serger since, it was a simplicity, well it finally got it's last stitch today, so being a daily sewer I needed a new serger. I didn't want to spend $400.00 again on one, so I seen this was for just under $200.00 and picked it up. Since the serger comes from the factory they need adjusting and sometimes re-threading and the tension fixed.Since I knew how to do all that it only took me about 30 minutes to get it all running perfectly. I have to say this machine is so much easier to thread then my older one, some will find it difficult, I can understand that because you are coming from a sewing machine with one threading device to a serger with 4 and trust me, this one is really easy to thread. Just give the machine a chance to show you what it can do and the most thing you have to be with a serger is patient. The one thing I did not like is the screwdriver for the screw to the needle is not the right size, I had to use my eyeglass screwdriver. Overall I give this machine a 5 star, as being nice for the price. Now lets see if it will last for 15 yrs.

bought this machine from Wallmart when my old serger broke in the middle of sewing a project. Did not read any reviews until after I had sewn on it. I found it excellent, and much less in price than I had expected to pay. I bought my first serger in the 70's a Juki and it was a devil to thread - traded it in . for a MyLock in about 85 - neither of them had differential feed . I like this one lot and think it is a good value .
